And we do not just rent gorgeous villas: we also provide all options to spend your time in the most pleasant way, according to your interests: walking, biking, sightseeing, swimming, or perhaps a language or cooking course. Most of the places we have been using for many years and we have a good personal relationship with the owners. Many of our hoteliers are walkers themselves and take an active and helpful interest in our clients’ progress.
On the whole and for these reasons we try to avoid chain and big name hotels. We’ll be able to assure your health & safety! Luckily, virtually all have only a small number of rooms and plenty of space, especially those located in the rural areas. Therefore we have double-checked all accomodations we work with. O f course, when travelling in post-covid times, you will be particularly careful about the safety, cleanliness and social distancing. All represent the best price/quality ratio the area offers and they all employ local people. Many are located in historical buildings or placed in exceptional spots, blended into the surrounding landscape. On some tours you will find that accommodations will vary somewhat within the hospitality quality grades, which adds a touch of character to the region or the country that they are passing through.Īll give you the feeling of being truly in Italy, and not in just another hotel anywhere in the world. Our accommodations are often small boutique hotels, but can also be wonderful Bed & Breakfasts ( yes, this is the Italian word!), as well as beautiful agriturismo’s, rural accommodations, which are often not just farms, but real countryside relais.Īll are chosen for their accessibility to the trail and for the warmth of their welcome. NOT the obvious places, but small, well-situated, often family-run places, with a personal welcome. We never saw anyone else to do things like, tell us where to go to eat or sell us bottles of water.
I let her know that we were unsatisfied with check-in and gave her the opportunity to win back our favor, but she responded that there was nothing she could do.
She apologized and said that the woman who was to meet us at 1 must have been there a few minutes before us but had to go to the hospital due to an emergency. At 1:45, we were finally let into our room and could relax. She called me back 5 minutes later and assured me that she'd be there in 5 minutes. Since we hadn't heard from Miriam, I texted her and called her. We waited in the suite lobby for 20 minutes and no one showed up. We arrived promptly at 1 PM and keyed into the main door. She responded that all of the bathrooms are located in the rooms and that we could use a bathroom at a nearby bar/restaurant. We asked Miriam if there was a bathroom that we could use because we had just been on a flight and we wanted to wash our hands and change. Our flight to Rome arrived very early in the morning and Miriam was nice enough to meet us at the suite at 7 AM to let us drop of our bags and to give us the keys to the main doors, but not our apartment door, which would be given to us by another woman at 1 PM when we came back. It's an Airbnb-style suite of apartments.
